Old Europe Trip 9/26
Old Europe was established way back in 1948 and specializes in authentic German cuisine. The kitchen turns out dishes that you would expect your mother to make if she were German, and the whole restaurant has a cozy, homey feel to it. From the live yodelers to the waitresses' traditional Bavarian outfits, this place replicates the best of German tradition.
Our group was immediately charmed by the restaurant, and everyone was excited to try the funny sounding dishes. The biggest hit was called Bayrischer Leberkäs, an open-faced meatloaf sandwich topped with a fried egg, surrounded by home fried potatoes and greens. Wursts, schnitzel, and other German favorites filled the table. The Apfelschorle (apple soda) perfectly complemented each dish, as well, and although the portions looked surprisingly small, at the end of the meal, everyone was satisfied.
The group really seemed to enjoy the experience. The only downside was the price; if you're not careful, you can end up with a fairly steep bill. For the quality of the food, I'd say it's a bargain.
What a great place to go on a cold autumn night! We will definitely be back!

Teaism Trip 9/7/12
Teaism has made their mark by providing their customers with high quality teas. They offer over sixty different varieties, from green to oolong. A tea seller keeps track of inventory and cycles in new types of teas each season. You can buy teabags and teapots to bring home from their store or you can stop in and enjoy a steamy cup anytime of day in their restaurants. They currently have many restaurants all over the city, including one in Penn Quarter, Dupont Circle, and Lafayette Park, and they have recently opened their newest establishment in Old Town Alexandria. Over four different locations guarantees you can get a great tasting beverage easily!
As for food, Teaism's menu is eclectic and affordable. Well known items such as crab cake sandwiches and burgers are listed right next to more exotic offerings like tuna bento boxes and palak paneer. Everyone, from adventurous to picky eaters, can find something delicious here! Many vegetarian and vegan items are also available to satisfy an even wider audience. No one in our group left hungry!
Everyone ordered something different. Chicken udon, a hand roll bento box, Korean BBQ beef, Thai chicken curry, and crab cakes filled the table. After dinner, we sampled Teaism's wide selection of cookies, as well, enjoying the various scone-like salty oat cookies. No one seemed disappointed. The koi fish pond was also a hit with our crowd. Everyone liked the relaxing atmosphere, and we all made promises to return to Teaism again.

Our First Foodie Field Trip: 4/19/2012
We had a great time on our first foodie field trip to H Street, a short walk from Union Station. Our original intention was to go to Toki Underground Noodle Bar, but we decided to change our plans after hearing how long the wait would be. Luckily, there are tons of restaurants on H Street! We chose Khan's Bar and Grill, another little noodle joint on the corner of H and 12th. It was a great choice!
We sat outside since it was a beautiful day. Five of us got the noodle bowl, where we were allowed to pile noodles and other ingredients into a bowl to put on the grill. We piled ours high, of course! We also got to make our own sauce. It was delicious! For the three people that didn't get a noodle bowl, there was Udon noodles in broth, a cheesesteak, and chilly cheese-fries! We also got pork fried dumplings. Khan's Bar and Grill had a lot of different things to offer!
