Fall 2013 Event Schedule
September 19th: Busboys & Poets
Busboys & Poets is arguably one of DC's most famous restaurants. The restaurant's namesake is Langston Hughes, the award-winning poet who paid his bills by waiting tables. They serve up Southern-style comfort food alongside vegetarian and vegan dishes, which makes the place a real crowd-pleaser. It's a DC landmark where people come to eat, listen to music, and enjoy the atmosphere. And who doesn't love U Street? Here's the menu if you're interested.

October 3rd: District Taco
District Taco originally started out as a food truck run by two neighbors who liked to cook great tasting food. Because of high demand, the food truck has turned into four brick-and-mortar locations across DC. We'll be going to the Capitol Hill establishment, where you can get fresh and delicious tacos (3 for $7!!) and breakfast served all day! This place is popular with professionals and college students alike. I'm definitely going to try the huevos rancheros. Take a look at the menu.

October 17th: Meskerem
Meskerem is the name of the first month of the Ethiopian calendar, and the food at this restaurant is just as authentic as its name. With low tables, comfy seats, and no utensils, this is one of the most humble restaurants we'll visit. Nothing beats scooping up beefy watt, Ethiopian curried stew, with spongy injera. It's an interesting culinary (and cultural) experience. Meskerem has been named as one of the best Ethiopian restaurants in DC. If you haven't tried Ethiopian food yet, this is a great place to start! For those who are curious, check out the menu here.

November 7th: Pho 75
Definitely a no-frills type of place, Pho 75 serves its food cafeteria-style in an unassuming Rosslyn location. Though it doesn't look like much, the pho here is said to be the best in DC. Served steaming and bursting with flavor, pho, a spicy Vietnamese soup, is the perfect thing to eat on a chilly autumn evening. Just add bean sprouts, scallions, and hot sauce to your liking, and you've got a killer dish (for less than $10!).

November 21st: Open City
Open City is a TDC favorite. We've been coming here since we were freshmen, and for good reason. They have the best comfort food you could ask for. The place itself is cozy and welcoming, and they serve some of the best coffee in DC (their sister restaurant is Tryst). Call it a coffeehouse, diner, or bar--they're all accurate descriptions. It's an all-in-one kind of place that serves a day-long breakfast menu alongside beer and wine. We recommend the chicken & waffles. Got you drooling? Check it out here.
